Rashee Rice To Miss First Six Games of 2025 Season After NFL Suspension

The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver will be eligible to return against the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 7.

Rashee Rice, the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, was suspended on Wednesday (August 27) for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

According to CBS Sports, Rice will miss the first six games of the season without pay for his involvement in a multicar crash in Dallas last year.

Following negotiations with the league, Rice agreed to the suspension, “because he wanted to serve his punishment early in the season, which would not complicate his availability in November or December.”

During training camp, Rice pledged to stay in top shape while he’s away from the team.

"This is my job, and this is what I love to do," Rice said earlier this month. "Even when I'm not able to be out there with my team, I'm still going to be working as hard as I can so I can be back out there with them as soon as possible."

Chiefs' Rashee Rice Sentenced To 30 Days In Jail

After several weeks of being in the dark about his situation, the Chiefs can now plan for Rice’s absence.

"That's not just something we did recently," Matt Nagy, Chiefs offensive coordinator said last week about Rice's possible suspension. "We've thought it through. There's a little bit of juggling, not only just with [a suspension] but also his health, making sure you balance both of those things together."

In July, BET reported that Rice was sentenced to 30 days of jail time and five years' probation. Accepting the sentence handed down by the judge, Rice expressed remorse for his actions in a statement.

"Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas," Rice said in a statement released by his attorney. "There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole.”

A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and a member of the Chiefs' Super Bowl LVIII-winning team, Rice has caught 103 catches for 1,226 yards and has scored 9 touchdowns in two seasons with the Chiefs.
