Jordan Chiles Manifested Her First BET Awards Nomination As A Kid

The Olympic champion shares how a lifelong goal became reality ahead of the June 28 ceremony.

Jordan Chiles is figuring out her next moves after wrapping up an incredible collegiate career at UCLA, and she already has a major milestone to celebrate. The Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast just locked in her very first BET Awards nomination for Sportswoman of the Year, and she says the recognition is a total dream come true.

In an interview with People magazine, Chiles shared that she used to watch the BET Awards as a kid and tell herself that she would win one of those trophies one day. She explained that this honor feels extra special because the event brings together the entire entertainment community, from musicians to directors and producers, making it an honor to be included in that space.

The 25-year-old is in excellent company, sharing the category with some huge names in sports like A'ja Wilson, Sha'Carri Richardson, and Naomi Osaka. Chiles told People magazine that being listed alongside such remarkable women is wild to think about, praising how much they have done to show the next generation that any goal is reachable. She added that no matter who takes home the trophy at the June 28 ceremony, she is just happy to be nominated.

The big news comes right after Chiles finished her senior year with a bang, winning the 2026 NCAA individual floor exercise national title, her fourth career college crown. Now that she has her degree, everyone is wondering if she will make a run for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Chiles told People magazine that she is taking things day by day right now and is still 50/50 on whether she will try for the next Olympics. While the Los Angeles games are definitely on her mind, she wants to make sure that if she returns to that stage, she does so for the right reasons and on her own terms.

It has been a busy stretch for Chiles, who was granted an appeal back in January regarding the ruling that stripped her of her 2024 Olympic individual bronze medal.

For the immediate future, she is looking forward to some much-needed downtime. She told People magazine that she has a few vacations lined up, which is a huge deal since she hasn't taken a real vacation since she started gymnastics. After a long season, she is prioritizing relaxation, inner peace, and happiness, though she did mention she set a personal deadline to get back into peak shape if she decides to pursue the 2028 games.
