A’ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces Reportedly Finalize Richest Deal In WNBA History
The Las Vegas Aces have ensured their cornerstone isn't going anywhere. A’ja Wilson, fresh off a historic 2025 campaign, has signed a three-year, $5 million supermax contract extension to stay with the Aces, sources told ESPN. The deal, negotiated by Jade-Li English of Klutch Sports Group, marks the largest contract in WNBA history to date and is fully guaranteed.
The financial terms reflect a new era for the league’s salary structure. Under the upcoming collective bargaining agreement and a new revenue-sharing model, Wilson is set to earn $1.4 million this season. Her salary will continue to scale upward over the next two years, tied to 20% of the team's salary cap.
Wilson’s resume heading into this new deal is virtually peerless. This past season, she became the first player in either the WNBA or NBA to sweep the scoring title, MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP awards in a single year. The 29-year-old averaged 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds while leading the Aces to another deep postseason run. Since being drafted first overall in 2018 out of South Carolina, where she played for legendary head coach Dawn Staley, Wilson has secured three WNBA championships and two Olympic gold medals.
While Wilson previously played under a team-friendly, two-year, $400,000 deal in which she earned less than teammates like Jackie Young, this new contract reflects her status as a three-time champion. Wilson confirmed her intentions at a recent USA Basketball camp, when she told reporters she had no interest in testing the open market, stating plainly that she loves Las Vegas and had no plans to leave the only professional home she has ever known.
