Napheesa Collier Vs The WNBA

Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier had time this week. During her team's exit interview this week, Collier gave an impeccable read of WNBA Commissioner Cathy Englebert and the league’s leadership. She claimed that “W”s executive team “lacks accountability.”

“We have the best players in the world,” Collier explained. “We have the best fans in the world. But right now we have the worst leadership in the world."

Collier went on to accuse the league of self-sabotage for ignoring player safety concerns and deploying inexperienced officials for games. She also claimed that Engelbert said that Caitlin Clark and others "should be on their knees" in gratitude for the platform the league has given them. A’ja Wilson and Clark have backed Collier’s stance on the league.

Phoenix Mercury and Las Vegas Aces Set To Square Off in the WNBA Finals

The 2025 WNBA Finals two-time champions Las Vegas Aces, led by four-time MVP A'ja Wilson, against the surging Phoenix Mercury, anchored by all-around star Alyssa Thomas. The Aces are seeking their third title in four years and the Mercury are making their first Finals appearance since 2021.  In a media session on Thursday, Thomas spoke about the resilience of the team.

“It speaks volumes about the team and how we stay composed, how we can go on runs and ride the wave,” she said. “You don’t know what each game is going to bring, but the biggest thing is us staying composed.”

Aces’ guard Jackie Young told the media that being back in the Finals is something she won’t take for granted.

“It means a lot, obviously. It was a long season. It took a lot to get here, but we’re here now, and we’re looking forward to the game tomorrow…We’ve been here before, we have a team full of vets, but they do too,” Young said. “ I don’t think you can take that for granted. Every Finals experience is different, but it does help having been here before.”

Game 1 of the WNBA Finals is on Friday, October 3 on ESPN
