Laila Ali Rips Claressa Shields' Character Amid Fight Talk

The retired champion didn't pull any punches, detailing years of alleged slights from her nemesis.

Laila Ali has responded to Claressa Shields taking shots at her.

During an appearance on Gillie Da Kidd’s and Wallo’s “Million Dollaz Worth Of Game,” Shields said Ali is only highly regarded because of who her dad is.

“I’m gonna take the high road like Terence Crawford and say she was the best in her era,” Shields said around the two-minute mark. “Actually, I’m not gonna lie. Ann Wolfe was the best in her era, and I’m the best in this era. Laila Ali is just Muhammad Ali’s daughter.”

Gillie Da Kid said “Nah, come on, we ain’t gonna do that,”

“Nah, that is right,” Shields argued.

Wallo came to Ali’s defense saying, “She was in there fighting,”

Shields would not let up on her assessment of Laila.

“She can’t rumble like Ann Wolfe. ‘Who is the best from the era?’ Ann Wolfe would’ve knocked Laila Ali out,” Shields said.

In an almost 30-minute on YouTube, Ali clapped back at Shields.

“You know what my father would say? She’s a generic wannabe. My father would not want to share his name or image with her. She does not represent anything about him in the ring or outside of the ring,” Ali said. “Now, many of us, including myself, had high hopes for her. I supported her. I sent her off in the right direction, but she has become a disappointment. She is a horrible representation of both the sport and our culture.”

While Ali did not answer if she’ll take up Shields on her $15 million fight proposal, she mentioned that she would address in another video.
