Marshon Lattimore Arrest: Could Recent Weapons Charges End the Pro Bowler’s Time with the Commanders?
Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore was arrested Wednesday evening in suburban Cleveland following a traffic stop that led to multiple weapons-related charges.
According to police records obtained by 3News (WKYC), the 29-year-old was taken into custody around 6:14 p.m. in the 11700 block of Clifton Boulevard. Lattimore, a Cleveland native and former Ohio State standout, was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by Lakewood police for expired license plates and other traffic violations.
Authorities told 3News that Lattimore was arrested for improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle after he allegedly failed to notify officers that there was a weapon inside the car when questioned. A 9mm Glock was listed as evidence in the police report, and he faces additional potential charges for carrying concealed weapons.
Lattimore was booked into jail but was later released pending further investigation. He did not have to post bond. In a statement provided to 3News, the law firm FG+G, which represents Lattimore, maintained that the NFL star "fully cooperated with law enforcement" and noted that he has not been formally charged at this time.
The Washington Commanders addressed the situation on Thursday, stating they are "gathering more information" and remain in communication with the NFL League Office.
This incident marks a familiar legal hurdle for the four-time Pro Bowler. As previously reported by 3News and NFL.com, Lattimore was arrested in Cleveland in March 2021 on a felony charge of receiving a stolen firearm. While that felony was eventually dismissed, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon, which resulted in a year of probation.
The arrest comes at a difficult time for Lattimore’s career on the field. After spending nearly eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints, he was traded to Washington during the 2024 season. However, his tenure in D.C. has been hampered by injuries. On Nov. 3, 2025, the team announced Lattimore had suffered a season-ending ACL injury during a game against the Seattle Seahawks, landing him on injured reserve.
As the Commanders look toward the off-season, Lattimore’s future with the franchise remains a point of speculation. While he is under contract for 2026, the team could reportedly save approximately $18.5 million in cap space if they choose to release him.
Neither the NFL nor the Commanders have announced any immediate disciplinary action as the legal process in Lakewood continues.
