Robin Thede Says She’s Been Proposed to 5 Times and Said No Each and Every Time

On Keke Palmer’s podcast, the comedy star opened up about the wildest proposals she has gotten and why she is not interested in sharing a house with anybody.

Robin Thede is not playing about her peace.

On the latest episode of “Baby, this is Keke Palmer,” the “A Black Lady Sketch Show” creator got real about what she wants (and does not want) in a relationship. Thede said her one big rule is simple and it’s an infamous Whoopi Goldberg quote, “I don’t want nobody in my house.” Palmer was immediately on the same page, joking that she feels the exact same way as she has quoted Goldberg’s anti-social living arrangements

“I’m going to share a story with you I’ve never told,” Thede said, setting the tone for piping hot tea. From there, Thede revealed that she has been proposed to five times by five different men and said no every single time. And they were all “crazy” proposals, Thede admitted.

In one case, a suitor proposed with a ring, but also told her he wanted them to live in separate houses because he could not be around her for more than three days at a time. Another proposal came from a man who got drunk on their third date in Palm Springs and stood up on a table before asking her to marry him.

It did not stop there. Thede also recalled a Venice gondola moment that was supposed to be romantic, until an illicit, cheating text popped up on his phone, quickly killing the vibe. Then there was the game show proposal that nearly happened after only six and a half weeks of dating, and a final “we might as well do it” ring offer that did not exactly sound like the stuff of fairy tales.

Thede even had Palmer’s production team cackling at all her failed proposals. What made the whole conversation fun was that Thede never sounded confused by her own standards. If anything, she sounded clear. She explained that for a long time, she had a fixer mentality and felt like everybody needed her, but now she recognizes how much she used to carry.

Palmer admitted that she had never been engaged. Shocked, Thede asked, “Nobody's ever asked you?”

“No, they just want me to fix their life like my name is Iyanla,” Palmer joked.

“Do they know that they’re doing that? Or is it that that's what you think you need to do?” Thede inquired.

“I think they want to be me.” Palmer said.

Both funny ladies later admitted that men fall in love with them fast and separately, no matter what, they need their boos to be fine.
