Houston’s Own Simone Biles Just Dropped The Hottest New Dining Spot At IAH
Olympic legend Simone Biles bringing a gold-medal dining experience to her hometown.
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist just opened her first restaurant, Taste of Gold inside Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The upscale café began welcoming travelers on Tuesday in Terminal A near Gate A8.
The space is more than just a place to grab a bite; it serves as a tribute to Biles historic gymnastics career. The interior features custom 3D artwork by Texas designer Jody Dodson, incorporating hand-crafted wood and gold accents inspired by the iconic leotards the athlete wore while dominating the world stage.
"As a frequent traveler, I am thrilled to partner with Athlete Playmaker Group to help create a place for people to relax and share meals during their travels through my hometown airport," Biles said during the launch. She noted that the restaurant is designed to be a welcoming environment for sports fans and hungry travelers alike.
Taste of Gold's menu focuses on quality and speed, offering a variety of sandwiches, salads, and shareable plates. "Simone’s Skewers" are a personal favorite of the gymnast that offers chicken, steak, shrimp, and vegetable options.
The restaurant is a collaboration between Biles and Athlete Playmaker Group, a firm specializing in athlete-led airport dining. Co-founder Derek Missimo said that the goal was to move away from "interchangeable" airport food and instead provide something that feels local and familiar.
Taste of Gold is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
