Micah Parsons Is Ready For An Emotional Return to Dallas
It’s a homecoming for Micah Parsons who will make his return to face the Dallas Cowboys, Sunday, and he’s ready for all of the emotions that will come with it.
After a contentious contract dispute during the offseason, Parsons, a defensive superstar, was traded to the Green Bay Packers in a blockbuster deal.
Speaking with The Associated Press’ Rob Maadd, Parsons shared his thoughts on sacking Dak Prescott in the matchup.
"It's going to be painful," Parsons explained. "That's my guy. He was always like a good mentor for me. But you know how it is, he always told me if I ever faced him that it'll be a great matchup, so I'm excited to see what Sunday brings itself."
During a media session, Wednesday, Parsons also spoke about his admiration for the Cowboys quarterback.
“I think Dak is so good because he’s overly confident. He believes he can make every throw. And I think 90% of the time he does do that," Parsons said. "You want your quarterback to have that mentality. I just think he’s a person who is very resilient and he’s determined. I never would bet against him.
”
Early this week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced that the team has no plans to honor Parsons. Before being traded, Parsons played four seasons for the Cowboys.
In response, Parsons didn’t take Jones' decision as disrespect.
"No, there's a lot of things I can consider disrespectful throughout this process, but I wouldn't say the tribute is one of them," Parsons said. "I would say, I just think there's hard feelings maybe there for them. But for me, I'm happy where I'm at and we got a really good football team, so I guess I can [receive] my tribute in a win, I hope."
Parsons also shared that he’s not worried about the reception he’ll receive from the Cowboys faithful in his return.
"You know, I think Dallas loves me," Parsons said. "I think they're going to give me a good round of applause. There's no hard feelings there, at least from me, and I think it's going to be, like I said, it's going to be a great atmosphere."
