Micah Parsons' Demands Trade From Dallas Cowboys

Parsons has shared his frustration with the Cowboys during contract negotiations, which has led to the trade request.

Micah Parsons has officially submitted his trade request to the Dallas Cowboys.

Parsons posted on social media that he is requesting a trade on Friday after negotiations with the Cowboys on his new contract grew contentious.

"I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys," he wrote. "My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally."

"Yes, I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America's team once again,” he continued. “The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here," Parsons wrote in a statement shared on social media.

"I no longer want to be held to closed-door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans, and my teammates,” Parsons added. “I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me."

On Saturday (August 2), Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner, gave his first public comments about Parsons’ trade request and didn’t seem fazed.

"I would say to our fans, don't lose any sleep over this," Jones said.

He went on to say that he’s been negotiating in good faith and has offered Parsons a lucrative contract.

“What y'all don't know is what I offered him," Jones said,as per the Cowboys' official website. "And it's a hell of a lot more than you think I did. That's what you don't know."

"Micah took it off," Jones added. "He took it off. That's very important."

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cowboys have not made Parsons an offer, contradicting Jones’s remarks that contract talks have progressed.

"They haven't even submitted a contract proposal," Schefter said Tuesday on “First Take” on July 24.

In the final year of his contract, Parsons will make $24 million. The four-time Pro Bowler is seeking $40 million-plus annually from the Cowboys, given his talent level.
