Draymond Green Slams Critics Blaming Adam Silver for Gambling Scandal
As the backlash continues from the NBA gambling probe, Draymond Green has come to the defense of Commissioner Adam Silver.
During an episode of his podcast “The Draymond Green Show,” Green argued that Silver and the NBA are doing their best to protect the integrity of the league.
“There’s bad apples everywhere. You go to any sport, any organization, anything, there’s bad apples everywhere,” Green said. “But let’s not try to act like Adam Silver has just built this league that does not care about people gambling. And because there’s a Fanatics sportsbook, a DraftKings, a FanDuel sponsorship, that Adam just doesn’t care about players gambling. Like, stop the bulls—t. Cut it out. We watch these gambling videos every year. They’re on top of this stuff.”
Green went on to say that he was fined $50,000 by the NBA for questioning the integrity of game officials in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals. During the incident, Green referenced the 5.5-point spread in that game, saying, “5.5. I know what y’all doing.”
“I got fined last year because I was making light of a referee, talking about a (betting) line. Because I had seen the line, I got fined. We put our heart and souls into this sh-t to try to be the last ones standing. To try to build great careers,” Green explained.
“To try to build great legacies. Partnerships are partnerships. I don’t get free Bud Light and Budweiser at my house because the NBA is with Bud Light. I don’t get a free FanDuel pass or DraftKings, or Fanatics Sportsbook because the NBA is partnered. Come on now,” he continued. “Give it a break. That’s ridiculous. And the league Adam has built has been incredible. It’s doing as great as it’s ever done. It’s larger than it’s ever been.”
