Angel Reese Leads Rose BC To Playoff Berth Following Unrivaled Return

The league's leading rebounder from a year ago tallied 15 boards and two blocks to push Rose BC into the postseason.

Angel Reese made an immediate impact in her first weekend back in Unrivaled competition, helping Rose BC secure a spot in the postseason. Reese, who is approachingher third season with  the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, rejoined Unrivaled this month as a mid-season addition for the 3-on-3 league’s defending champions. Her return was announced following a roster vacancy created by a season-ending injury to Aari McDonald and a multi-team trade that sent Azura Stevens to Hive BC. Despite not playingin the early portion of the season, Reese provided the rebounding and defensive presence necessary for Rose BC to punch its playoff ticket.

The weekend began on Friday night at Sephora Arena in Miami, where Reese made her Season 2 debut against Hive BC. In just over 10 minutes of action, the forward scored 13 points and collected eight rebounds, shooting 6-for-9 from the field. She made her presence felt early, recording an offensive rebound and a putback shortly after checking into the game. While Rose BC fought through 16 ties and 19 lead changes, they ultimately fell 80-78.

On Sunday, Rose BC returned to the court with higher stakes, facing the Laces in a matchup with major playoff implications. Reese delivered a signature performance on the glass, finishing the game with nine points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks. Her defensive anchoring and interior control guided Rose BC to a 70-66 victory. The win moved the team to a 6-7 record, officially clinching a berth in the upcoming playoffs where they will look to defend the Unrivaled inaugural title Rose BC claimed last year.

Reese’s return to the 3-on-3 league follows a WNBA campaign where she averaged 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds. Her familiarity with the Rose BC system was evident throughout the weekend, as she helped a frontcourt that also featured Shakira Austin, who contributed 17 points and nine rebounds during the Friday contest. Reese previously led the league in rebounding during the first season and was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

Rose BC will now prepare for the postseason tournament starting on February 28. In addition to her professional commitments, Reese is slated to make her debut for the U.S. senior national team during the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament on March 11.
