Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis Takes On Uisma Lima for Interim WBA Title
On October 11, undefeated star Jaron "Boots" Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) will make his highly anticipated debut at the Super Welterweight (154-pound) limit against Uisma Lima (14-1, 10 KOs) in his hometown of Philadelphia. Sanctioned for the interim WBA Super Welterweight title, the bout begins a new era following his dominant run in the welterweight division.
Although Ennis comes into the fight as the favorite and has the “City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection” crowd cheering him on, his Angolan challenger, known as "Monstro," is no slouch with his rugged, take-no-prisoners style of fighting.
The winner of the fight will not only become champion but will also introduce a new chapter in the storied history of the super welterweight division.
In his previous fight, Ennis defeated Eimantas Stanionis in a sixth-round victory, earning the WBA and IBF welterweight championships in April 2025.
Lima, who is currently on a four-fight win streak, exuded confidence during the fight-week media sessions.
“Thank you to Matchroom for this fight of my life. We train for this moment, these events, and we have put in the camp of our lives for this fight. I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m ready for this fight,” Lima said. “I come into this fight with zero fear. They know I can beat him. I know he’s an elite fighter, but I am too.”
Ennis was not swayed by Lima’s boisterous behavior and predicted an early night for his opponent.
“I like the confidence, but he talks too much. He’s going to get exactly what he is looking for, and that’s an early night. I’m going to have some fun and show up. I’m not here to play games,” Ennis said
“He’s about to fight in front of my fans in Philly — it’s a whole different energy and vibe,” he continued. “You’ll see me on Saturday night, and you all know my slogan: we’re in and out like a robbery.”
Jaron Ennis vs Uisma Lima takes place on Saturday, October 11, on DAZN.
