Ja Morant Almost Injures Himself In Dunk Attempt In China
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is currently enjoying his offseason in China and promoting his latest signature shoe.
While on the tour, Morant sought to give his fans a show by attempting to dunk over his father, Tee Morant, but almost injured himself in the process.
As seen in the viral clip, when Ja was about to catapult in the air, he slid into the back of his father and almost took a terrible fall. Fortunately, no serious injury occurred.
Interestingly, Morant ended up trying the circus dunk again and nailed it.
As the video began to spread online, many questioned why Ja would risk injury on an unregulated court and why his father would participate with him.
Also, the Grizzlies’ brass had to be extremely nervous and concerned after seeing Ja almost suffer another serious injury.
Going into his seventh season in the league, Ja has had a long injury history. Due to several ailments and issues off the court, Ja has missed 185 games of a possible 492 that he could have played.
Previously, Morant said that he was done with dunking and the fans should no longer expect his aerial exploits.
“I’m not trying to dunk at all,” Morant told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon in December. “Y’all think I’m lying. I’m dead serious.”
“Sometimes I get knocked out of the air and [a foul] don’t get called, and now I’m out longer than what I’m supposed to be. Sometimes, the foul might get called; I still hit the floor, but after the game, you might feel that little fall. So I just pick and choose, man. Hey, two points is two points. I get it done. That’s all that matters.”
Implementing a no-dunking rule has not proven to work, so Grizzlies fans are hoping that Ja would be more careful so he can be at his best when the season begins.
