New Legal Trouble For Rashee Rice As Longtime Partner Sues For Physical Abuse
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice faces a legal battle off the field as his longtime partner and the mother of his children, Dacoda Jones, filed a civil lawsuit in Dallas County, Texas, this week alleging a horrific pattern of physical abuse. The lawsuit, filed in district court, details a series of violent encounters that Jones claims occurred between December 2023 and July 2025.
According to court documents, Jones accuses the NFL star of choking, strangling, hitting, and head butting her during their relationship. The filing describes a period of abuse where Rice allegedly threw objects at her, punched walls, and broke furniture. Jones, who shares two children with him, further claims that a significant portion of the alleged violence took place while she was pregnant.
The lawsuit alleges that the physical altercations resulted in visible injuries, including bleeding, swelling, and bruising across her face, neck, arms, and chest. Jones is seeking more than $1 million in damages, citing physical injury and emotional distress.
While the lawsuit was filed recently, Jones first brought the allegations to light in early January through a series of social media posts. At the time, she shared images of her injuries and expressed her exhaustion with protecting his image. Following those public claims, the NFL launched an investigation into the 25-year-old receiver for potential violations of the league's Personal Conduct Policy. Rice has not been charged criminally in connection with the allegations.
This legal trouble follows a tumultuous stretch for the wideout. Rice just finished his third season in the league, but his availability has been hampered by previous off-field issues. He served a six-game suspension at the start of the 2025 season following his involvement in a high-speed, multi-car crash in Dallas that occurred in March 2024. For that incident, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
The NFL’s current investigation into the domestic violence allegations remains active. Because Rice has previously been disciplined under the league's conduct policy, he could face even stricter penalties as a repeat offender if the allegations are substantiated. Neither the receiver nor the Kansas City Chiefs have released l statements in response to the new lawsuit.
