Mos Def to Star In Jackie Brown Prequel

Mos Def will hit the big screen in the prelude to the 2002 Quentin Tarantino flick.

The rapper/actor formerly known as Mos Def is heading back to the big screen, and his latest role will have him filling in the shoes of Samuel L. Jackson.
Yasiin Bey has signed on to co-star in a prequel to the 2002 Quentin Tarantino classic Jackie Brown alongside veteran indie actor John Hawkes, Variety reports. The film will be based on the novel The Switch by Elmore Leonard, which takes place 15 years before Leonard's subsequent novel Rum Punch, on which Jackie Brown was based.
Bey will play the character of Ordell Robbie, a skinny but tough-as-nails gunrunner brought to life by Samuel L. Jackson in Jackie Brown. The film will be written and directed by Dan Schecter, with production scheduled to begin in May.
Yasiin was last seen in a recurring role on the Showtime drama Dexter last fall.
