Milwaukee Bucks Make NBA History With Three Antetokounmpo Brothers On the Team

With the signing of Alex Antetokounmpo to a two-way deal, he joins Giannis and Thanasis to form the first trio of brothers on the same NBA team roster.

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed another Antetokounmpo brother, making it the first time where three brothers are on the same roster simultaneously.

Alex Antetokounmpo, the 24-year-old youngest brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, inked a two-way contract with the Bucks, according to ESPN. In early October, the Bucks signed 33-year-old Thanasis Antetokounmpo to a one-year contract. He missed last season with a torn Achilles tendon. {Previously, Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo had been teammates in five previous seasons in Milwaukee (2019-24).

While the story is amazing for the Antetokounmpo family, many view the moves as a way to ensure that  Giannis recommits to the Bucks. If he doesn’t, Giannis will become a free agent at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Alex played in Europe in 2024 and 2025. He also played three seasons in the NBA G League, including two with the Bucks' affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd.

Bucks and Knicks Engaged in Trade Talks For Giannis Antetokounmpo

In a recent appearance on ANT1’s The 2Night Show, Giannis expressed his commitment to bring another championship to Milwaukee even though he acknowledged the uncertainty of his future.

"I owe everything to the Bucks. They’ve changed my life and my family’s life. I’ve shed sweat and blood for them," Giannis said. "We won a championship after 50 years. I brought the trophy to Milwaukee."

"I’m someone who always sets goals. A few weeks ago, it was the medal — and I did it. The game against Turkiye was a bad day, but they were the better team,” Giannis continued. “They had five NBA players, and they deserved to finish second. People had us ranked ninth or tenth; what we achieved was amazing, but I still want another NBA ring.”

"I can’t know what the future holds — right now I’m living in the present. I want to win a championship with Milwaukee, but you never know what life brings," Giannis added.
