2022 NAACP Image Awards: Who Is Marcus Scribner? 5 Things To Know About This Year’s Presenter
Marcus Scribner is best known for his breakout role as “Junior” on the Kenya Barris-created ABC hit sitcom black-ish. During the 53rd NAACP Image Awards, Scribner, who’s also snatched a few honors himself, will be presenting as we honor outstanding performances in film, television, theatre, music, and literature. Before then, here are five things you should know about this year’s presenter.
He’s a philanthropist
Scribner is adamant about giving back and is an ambassador for Defend Out Future. According to its website, Defend Our Future “is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to empowering young people of all political persuasions who are interested in advancing environmental justice and clean energy and climate solutions that grow our economy and protect the world for future generations.”
He has voice-acting credits
Aside from portraying Jr. on the hit comedy series black-ish, Scribner has also lent his voice to “Bow” in the critically acclaimed Netflix animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. He has also had appearances on other shows, including American Dad, Dragons: The None Realms, and Home: For the Holidays. Most recently, he did voice work for Ron’s Gone Wrong.
His interests include boxing
During an interview with 1883 Magazine, the young star opened up about his interest in the combat sport, telling the outlet at the time, “I wanna like, try to start boxing; that just seems like such a fun sport… I tried a few sessions a little bit ago — and Jesus Christ, I never got a better workout.”
He’s had several guest appearances
Scribner has also made cameos on other hit shows, including the popular mystery drama series Castle, New Girl, and American Dad.
He’s NAACP Image Awards winner
Scribner isn’t new to the NAACP Image Awards stage. The young actor has won awards alongside his cast members for the hit series black-ish, but he also took home a solo trophy in 2016 for “Outstanding Performance by a Youth” for his role on the award-winning show.
