Lions Star Facing Life in Prison

Authorities reveal Terrion Arnold faces four counts each of kidnapping and armed robbery following an alleged setup in Tampa.

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold turned himself in to Florida authorities on Wednesday evening, and he is facing some incredibly serious felony charges. Arnold was booked into the Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County on four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, all stemming from an incident back in early February. Because these charges carry a potential life sentence, prosecutors are already moving to keep him locked up without bond until the trial.

This goes back to Feb. 4 in Tampa, where police say three men were lured to an apartment, pistol-whipped, held at gunpoint, and robbed. Tampa police had already arrested six other people for the attack, but investigators are now pointing to Arnold as the primary conspirator who was actually directing the group.

According to police records, everything started with a different robbery a few days earlier. Arnold had rented an Airbnb in Largo, Florida, where he and a few friends were staying. On Feb. 1, someone broke in and stole more than $250,000 worth of property, which Arnold and his friends reported to the police on Feb. 3.

Investigators say Arnold believed two of the victims were the ones who cleaned out the Airbnb, but police later cleared them and said they had nothing to do with it. Still, the state attorney's office alleges that Arnold orchestrated the retaliatory kidnapping and robbery just hours after filing that initial police report. Authorities claim they even found a group chat where Arnold was giving live directions to the other codefendants while the assault was happening inside the apartment.

As for the other six people involved, two have already pleaded guilty, and the other four are being held without bond.

Arnold is denying all of it. Denise White, the CEO of EAG Sports Management, issued a statement saying Arnold maintains his innocence and that there is no credible evidence linking him to the crime. She argued that the government is just relying on the word of convicted felons who are trying to point fingers to get shorter sentences for themselves, adding that Arnold looks forward to clearing his name.

The Lions also issued a short statement saying they are aware of the arrest but will not comment while the legal process plays out.

Reporters asked Arnold about the situation during minicamp on June 17, but he wouldn't comment at the time, saying he was just trying to rehab from his season-ending shoulder surgery and keep his focus on football.
