AIDS activist, actress, writer and producer, Sheryl Lee Ralph is spreading the news about HIV/AIDS.

Ralph travels across the world to different communities and colleges to speak out about HIV/AIDS, in her performances, she incorporates song, dance and story-telling to drive home the reality of the disease.

When this disease started in the 1980s, it was an ugly time in America," said Ralph.

In her one-woman show, "Sometimes I Cry," she tells the stories of several women from very different backgrounds and cultures who have one thing in common: They are each infected with HIV or have AIDS.

Her first character was a legal assistant who was divorced, and loved sex and shopping.

Her second character was a foster child sexually abused by a father who raped her, while her mother would not believe her.

The last character was a 68-year-old retired mother and widow, infected with HIV.

This woman had a special friend whom she slept with and did not know he was infected until she received a phone call from his sister that he had died of the AIDS.

“These women’s voices have been silent for too long in the struggle against HIV/AIDS and must be heard,” she said.
