Audi Crooks Joins Brittney Griner With Historical Scoring Streak
Iowa State’s Audi Crooks is demonstrating a level of statistical dominance in college basketball that is nearly unprecedented. The junior center has carved out a historic scoring streak based on remarkable efficiency, placing her in a category occupied only by one other Division I player since the turn of the millennium.
Crooks recently completed a three-game run that saw her score at least 30 points in each contest while shooting a minimum of 65 percent from the field. This accomplishment joins her with only Brittney Griner (2013) as the sole Division I women’s basketball players to achieve that specific benchmark since the year 2000. The feat underscores the degree of control Crooks exerts in the paint, a measure further highlighted by the fact that no Division I men's player has matched that standard of efficient scoring in the same time period.
During that dominant stretch, Crooks averaged 36 points and 6 rebounds, converting field goals at a staggering 70 percent clip. For the 11-0 season overall, Crooks has established herself as the nation’s leading scorer with 27.6 points per game and boasts a leading field-goal percentage of 73.2 percent. Her individual success has fueled the Cyclones’ rise to the No. 10 ranking.
The historical efficiency has translated into wins, most notably against in-state rival No. 11 Iowa. In the highly anticipated ranked matchup, Crooks delivered a 30-point, 10-rebound double-double, helping Iowa State hand their rival its first loss of the season. Her performance, built on 13 made shots on 20 attempts, cemented her role as the centerpiece of the Cyclones' attack. Furthermore, the 47 points she scored against Indiana in late November set a new program record, showcasing her ability to carry the team’s scoring load when necessary.
Crooks’ reliability is also reflected in her longevity; she maintains the longest active double-digit scoring streak in Division I basketball, having reached the mark in 78 consecutive games. As Iowa State moves toward the demanding Big 12 conference schedule, the historical efficiency and consistency of Crooks will remain the primary metric for their national aspirations, demanding unique defensive schemes from every opponent they face. The center’s exceptional start is raising the standard for post-play efficiency in women's college basketball.
