T.I. to Help Homeless Vets Through Global Campaign
T.I. has partnered up with the Veterans Empowerment Organization to launch a global campaign that will help homeless war veterans.
The goals of the "Give Like a King" campaign will be to provide vets with a safety net of housing, meals, health care, substance abuse after care, mental health counseling, job training and placement assistance.
"We have to have someone else’s back, not just our own," T.I. said in a statement.
According to the Center for American Progress, 1.5 million vets are "at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support networks, and dismal living conditions in overcrowded or substandard housing."
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs also lists mental health issues, substance abuse and inadequate living conditions as additional factors that could send returning vets into the streets.
One upcoming project titled "Keys from the King" will award one recipient with keys to a car, a home and other surprises.
