Man Charged For Allegedly Firing Gun In Charlotte Comedy Club
Authorities in Charlotte, N.C., have identified a man arrested for allegedly firing a gun inside an uptown comedy club on Saturday night (July 16).
According to local station WSOC, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department James McCombs, 36, was charged with nine counts in connection to the incident.
No one was reportedly injured on Saturday, however the situation canceled comedian Craig Robinson’s scheduled performance at the AvidXchange Music Factory.
Employees of the club say a man came inside around 9:10 p.m. while waving a gun around and demanded everyone leave the building. Around 50 patrons were inside and dozens more were outside. CMPD confirmed that McCombs allegedly fired the weapon after everyone was evacuated.
Officers said that when they arrived they found several victims who said McCombs pointed a gun at them and threatened to hurt them. They were reportedly able to quickly detain McCombs and take him to CMPD headquarters.
Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office arrest records reveal McCombs was charged with five counts of assault by pointing a gun, one count of discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, among other charges.
