Kevin Durant's Legs Get the Last Laugh
Looks like Kevin Durant is getting the last, lotioned laugh.
Remember when the Houston Rockets star and onetime NBA MVP was on the wrong end of a social media dragging over a picture that appeared to show him in-game showing a patch of exposed, terminally-ashy skin on his leg? If that feels like it happened last week, check your calendar; it was actually five years ago. His NBA colleagues and trolls alike were quick to pile on, wondering why a player who’s made a cumulative half-billion dollars playing ball couldn’t find the time and resources to moisturize before taking the court.
It didn’t take long before Durant, who’s never shied away from clapping back at haters over social media, said that enough was enough.
But thanks to recent developments, it doesn’t look like Durant should have any issues with a parched epidermis anytime soon. He’s landed new work as “The New Face of Legs” (non-ashy legs, that is) in a campaign for CeraVe, the skincare brand.
Video from the first spot for the campaign leans into the ash-incident (ash-cident?) that originally got him trolled. The camera opens on a pair of hands lotioning a tattoo. The camera pans up slowly, revealing Durant’s almost eternally long and well-oiled legs, and finally his face, smirking as he spins a CeraVe container on his finger like a basketball.
The value of the endorsement wasn’t disclosed, but we’re willing to bet it’s worth its weight in moisturizing cream.
In addition to being one of the game’s biggest superstars over the past 18 years, Durant has been bankable as an off-court endorser. His deals include endorsements with Nike that earlier in his career were worth a reported $360 million and which were since expanded to a “lifetime” contract in 2023, partnerships with video game maker 2K sports, Gatorade, BBVA Compass, Panini and Degree deodorant.
