Casting News: New Roles for Columbus Short and Morris Chestnut

The former Scandal star will join the cast of the horror-film franchise Fear Files.

Despite all of the bad luck that has been following former Gladiator Columbus Short as of late, the actor has landed his first major TV role since his Scandal departure. Short's comeback will come in the form of TV One's original horror film franchise Fear Files.

Playing the role of city councilman Harvey Jordan in Fear Files, Short will have a substantial role in the progression of the TV film's plot. E! News reports that his character plans to build a football stadium in a low-income neighborhood, and his decision ends up causing conflict within the community, which results in a fatal fire breaking out.

Other stars included in the film is Let's Stay Together star Erica Hubbard, who will play reporter Kelisia Waters, whom Short's character must get on his side in order to sway the media into believing that he had no hand in the fire. Fear Files premieres on Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m. ET on TV One.

Elsewhere on the small screen, Morris Chestnut will play the lead in a new FOX television series. The drama, written and executive produced by Todd Hartham, will see the Best Man actor in the role of the charming Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr., a private pathologist who has the ability to read both living and dead bodies.
