Adele Returns to Top Spot on Charts

The U.K. songstress reclaims Billboard’s No. 1 position.

All the buzz in Great Britain might be about their soon-to-be-crowned princess, but blue-eyed soul singer Adele has proven once again that she is the queen of the charts.

The 21-year-old's sophomore album, 21, has reclaimed the top spot on Billboard for an impressive fifth non-consecutive time since its release in February. The album has sold nearly 1.3 million copies, thanks to a 65 percent jump in sales. The 150,000 additional units it moved last week was likely boosted by the performance of her hit single "Rolling in the Deep" by a contestant on American Idol. Adele's growing army of fans also includes music superstar Beyoncé, who recently said the British star's voice sounded like "listening to God."
Hip-hop veteran DJ Quik debuted just outside of the top 50 with his eighth solo album, The Book Of David, selling 9,700 copies for a placement at No. 54. Harlemites Cam'ron and Vado performed worse with their much-delayed tag-team effort, Gunz N' Butta, selling only 7,500 copies. The U.N. rappers debuted at No. 73.
Meanwhile, Chris Brown remains on the top 10 list, with his latest album, F.A.M.E., selling 37,000 units and landing at No. 9.
