You may recall back in April when an openly gay pastor in Texas filed a lawsuit against the high-end grocer Whole Foods. In the suit, Jordan Brown claimed that the grocery store sold him a wedding cake with the words “Love Wins Fag,” written in icing.

Brown then tweeted an image of the cake and revealed how offended he was. Shortly after he posted online, he announced that he was filing a lawsuit because of the hate crime that he was forced to endure.

Now although he was adamant in his claim, representatives from Whole Foods were also certain that the offensive language was never written on the cake sold to Brown. In a statement, Whole Foods confidently said “[the Whole Foods] team member wrote “Love Wins” at the top of the cake as requested by the guest, and that’s exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store.”

This sent the internet into a full-on investigation as to the credibility of the pastor. Also, Whole Foods released security footage of the original purchase, which proved the receipt he used as evidence had been tampered with. Other viewers noticed the difference in handwriting and frosting used to write the hateful message.

All of this controversy seemed to come to a halt on Monday when the pastor dropped the suit and released a statement wherein he apologized. Brown wrote, “the company did nothing wrong. I was wrong to pursue this matter and use the media to perpetuate this story.”

Brown also apologized to the LGBT community and the baker that he originally accused of writing the word. It’s unclear as to why exactly Brown would make up something so horrible, but at least all lawsuits have been dropped and Whole Foods can move on from this drama.
