HomeGoods Employee’s Musical Closing Announcements Go Viral

Amber Renae’s upbeat ‘Jingle Bells’ sign-offs have drawn half-a-million views and turned routine store closings into joyful moments.

A HomeGoods employee’s cheerful closing announcements have turned her into a holiday-season-feel-good-viral star!

Amber Renae, a 38-year-old mother of two who moved from Dallas to Lancaster County, PA. this year, has been recording her playful, musical, “Jingle Bells” sign-offs over the store intercom that customers and coworkers said brighten the nightly close. One clip of her singing the last announcement has racked up more than 500K views on TikTok

Renae told People she brings a performer’s instincts to everything she does. “I bring my personality into everything I do. My goal, at the end of the day, is to always be a light and shine bright,” she said, explaining that after leaving a job teaching theater she took the HomeGoods shift to stay active while auditioning and filming self-tapes.

“No matter what job I've ever had, in between shows or contracts, I always perform. Teaching middle or high school theatre? Perform for my students,” she explained. “Property manager for student housing? Perform for my staff. Working as a cashier at HomeGoods? You better believe I'm gonna find a way to perform.”

She records multiple announcements during weekend evening shifts — 30, 15 and 5 minutes before close, plus a final “we’re closed” message. She saves the special singing one for the very last call. “I usually do the special singing one once we reach the very last announcement,” Renae said. The response was immediate: customers cheered, coworkers asked to help remix her holiday lines, and she said customers leave with “huge smiles” on their faces.

For Renae, the choice to perform is intentional. “This country can be so divided sometimes. I want to bring people together. I want to give them a different experience while shopping,” she told People and added that a little levity might push people to be kinder after they walk out the door.

Retail can be very transactional. Renae is proving that it can also be communal. Her impromptu intercom shows are a reminder that small bits of joy travel further than you’d expect.
