A’ja Wilson Honors Fellow AKA Kamala Harris During Book Tour

The Las Vegas Aces superstar shared a heartfelt video message in her hometown of Columbia.

A’ja Wilson took a moment to show some major love to Vice President Kamala Harris during her recent book tour stop in Columbia, South Carolina. The Las Vegas Aces superstar and South Carolina native filmed a special video message that played for the crowd, welcoming Harris back to the city where Wilson’s own legendary basketball journey began.

The four-time WNBA MVP reached out to congratulate the former vice president on her latest major milestone: becoming a New York Times best-selling author for her book, 107 Days. In the video, Wilson didn't hold back on the praise, thanking Harris for being a constant source of inspiration through her strength and her career-long dedication to public service. Wilson noted that Harris’  voice is a powerful force that encourages people all over the world to pursue their own greatness regardless of the obstacles in their way.

The connection between the two stars goes much deeper than just professional respect. Both women are proud members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Wilson made sure to lean into that sisterhood. After sending her love and well-wishes for the rest of the tour, she wrapped up the clip with a signature "Skee-Wee." That nod to their shared bond as AKA sorors was a highlight of the message, signaling a deep level of solidarity and mutual support that has defined both of their journeys. It was a moment that transcended the screen, connecting the audience in Columbia to the shared history of the first intercollegiate Black sorority.

As Wilson prepares for her own upcoming season, she made it clear that seeing Harris lead on such a high level provides a blueprint for excellence that she and many others continue to follow. The video served as a reminder of the impact these two icons have when they use their platforms to lift one another up and celebrate collective success. The tribute was a genuine moment of South Carolina pride and a celebration of two Black women who are currently at the absolute top of their respective games.
