Kelly Rowland Reveals Album Plans After Signing With Roc Nation

The R&B singer shared the project is nearly done.

R&B singer Kelly Rowland revealed that she will be coming out with an album sometime this year following the successful release of her new single, “Coffee.”

  • In a new interview with the Associated Press, Rowland opened up about the inspiration behind her latest song. The former Destiny’s Child singer surprised fans with the new release on April 16, along with a sizzling music video that showcased the full array of Black woman’s beauty.

“I just wanted it to be an expression of black beauty and the different variations and tones and body shapes,” the 39-year-old said. “I was really inspired by Black women.”

  • Rowland shared that she was moved to tears by the positive reception she saw online. It has only lit a fire under her to finish forthcoming fifth studio album, which she said is one song away from completion.

“I’m very excited about this album. I’m excited for the fact that the years that it took me to find tempo...The whole album’s not up-tempo, but I’m excited to share my tempo,” she expressed. “I feel like I always had mids and slower records but yeah, I’m ready to dance. Especially when we come out of all this, we need to dance.”

When asked if she is releasing her album under Roc Nation, Rowland said that she recently signed a management deal with the entertainment firm.

“It just really happened to work and it’s working out really well so far,” she said. “My team, I have a great team. It’s not to say I didn’t have a great team before, I had a great team before. You evolve, you move on and that’s really it, and Roc Nation is home now.”
