[Video] Tichina Arnold: ‘I Go Out For White Girl Roles'

The Survivor's Remorse star hilariously talks diversity in Hollywood.

Tichina Arnold always keeps it 100.

Whether she's talking about being Black in Hollywood, blasting her haters or holding up a mirror to her own community, we've come to expect a dose of real talk from the veteran actress, who currently stars as Cassie Calloway on Survivor's Remorse. In advance of the show's third season, which premiered July 24 on STARZ, we sat down with the star to talk about the recent rash of violence between Black men and the police, as well as her thoughts on surviving Hollywood as a Black woman.
"I like the fact that I go out for white girl roles, because it allows me to be a Black woman in a white woman's position," she says bluntly. But, she says, "we've got a long way to go. I'm never satisfied."
Speaking of a long way to go, Arnold also shares her thoughts on the role of celebrities in speaking out against police brutality, and supportive movements like Black Lives Matter. "I think celebrities get a bad rap," she says. "Just because you don't post on your Twitter, just because you don't see it on Instagram...there are a lot of soldiers who are doing things in the background, and I'm one of them."
