Sean "Diddy" Combs Apologizes for Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend Cassie After Release of Disturbing Video

: The music mogul expressed deep remorse following the release of a video showing a 2016 assault, admitting his actions and committing to personal growth amidst ongoing legal issues.

Sean "Diddy" Combs issued a public apology on Sunday after CNN released a video showing him assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. The 54-year-old music mogul confirmed his identity as the man in the video and expressed deep remorse in a social media statement.

“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” Combs stated. “I was disgusted then, when I did it. I’m disgusted now.”

The video shows Combs, clad only in a towel, chasing Cassie, whose legal name is Cassandra Ventura, down a hallway in the now-closed InterContinental Hotel. He violently grabs her from behind, throws her to the ground, kicks her twice, and drags her along the floor. After she stands and picks up a phone, Combs hurls a vase at her.

“I’m committed to being a better man each and every day,” Combs continued. “I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

Cassie, now 37, filed a lawsuit against Combs in November 2023, accusing him of rape and physical abuse during their long-term relationship. The assault in the video, dated March 5, 2016, matches the description in her lawsuit. Cassie claimed Combs punched her and gave her a black eye, prompting her to leave their hotel room and head towards the elevator. She also alleged Combs paid hotel security $50,000 for the footage. CNN has not disclosed how it obtained the video.
