Michele Ghee Named President of PlayersTV Following Acquisition of Expectant Media
PlayersTV is entering a new phase of growth with the appointment of Michele Ghee as President, effective immediately. The athlete-focused streaming platform also announced it has acquired Ghee’s tech and content agency, Expectant Media, in a deal with undisclosed financial terms.
Ghee, a veteran media executive with nearly three decades of experience across television, digital, and brand strategy, has served on the PlayersTV board for the past two years. Her move into the presidency formalizes her role in shaping the company’s next chapter, which will focus on scaling original programming, expanding distribution, and deepening experiential and community-driven engagement between athletes and fans.
As president, Ghee will bring her expertise in marketing, experiential branding, and culture to PlayersTV’s growing media ecosystem, which includes streaming video, news, and features. The company says it plans to lean further into live, community-centered moments that connect athletes directly with audiences, with additional announcements around original content, partnerships, and brand collaborations expected in the coming weeks.
PlayersTV currently operates through a network of more than 3,000 fan-owners and over 70 athlete investors, including Chris Paul, Travis Kelce, Chiney Ogwumike, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Ken Griffey Jr., and Vernon Davis.
Deron Guidrey, co-CEO and co-founder of PlayersTV, said: “Michele has been a trusted member of our board for the past two years. We saw immense value in Michele and what she’s built across media, content, and activation to support our growing flywheel. She is a proven leader in advancing equity across content and distribution, and we look forward to the high-caliber impact she will have on our organization and with our growing stable of premium partners.”
Before founding Expectant Media, Ghee held senior executive roles at Essence Communications and Ebony, helping guide content, business strategy, and brand growth. She also served as Senior Vice President at BET.
