Taraji P. Henson Offers Up Some Dope Relationship Advice: 'They'll Be No Games Played'

The "Empire" star wants you to know your worth. Ladies, are you listening?

Taraji P. Henson is a force to be reckoned with.

As an award-winning actress, the face-of and collaborator of a new MAC cosmetics line, and co-author of an upcoming book about her life, Taraji P. Henson has had a busy summer. By the looks of her latest Instagram post, perhaps she should add relationship expert to her already impressive resume.

On Wednesday, the Golden Globe-winning Empire actress dropped some serious knowledge hoping to inspire women to recognize their own worth and stop waiting for a man to validate them.

With the hashtags #ClassInSession and #ListenUp, Henson shared a pic that reads, “The one the God has for you will be sure of who you are. They’ll be no games played, no back and forth and no off and on. The one that God has for you will be dead set on commitment and they’ll be fully dedicated.”

“They want to protect your heart and let you know that you are valuable to them. They won’t 'second guess' anything. They’ll know and they’ll act like they’ll know,” the post added.

PREACH!

In her series of posts, it was also stressed that when women aren’t getting what they want out of a relationship, they shouldn’t be afraid to “move on and keep stepping.”

“You’ve already spent enough time waiting. If they’re not ready, they’re not ready. [So] stop waiting on them to figure it out. It doesn’t take that long.”

When you think about it, Henson does have a point.

If he ain’t put a ring on it after seven years, if y'all keep breaking up and getting back together and if you’re not happy, what are you really doing? How much more of yourself do you have to give and how much more convincing should you have to “prove” that you’re the “one.”

These types of empowering messages are sorely needed, especially given how often Black women are told that regardless of their succeed in life, their value is solely wrapped up in whether or not we have a man by our side.

And so the pressure to be in a relationship and do so at any cost is real. So yes, we definitely need to hear more often that we’re prizes too and that we don’t have to settle, sit around and wait for men to value us.

So thank Taraji for keeping us grounded and please keep this type of advice coming!
