Watch: What Led to This 19-Year-Old Allegedly Strangling His HS Sweetheart?

And racist Twitter trolls disgustingly say family should have seen it coming.

A 19-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder after his girlfriend was found strangled to death in Covington, Georgia.

On Tuesday night, 19-year-old Alyssa Wright went to her boyfriend Elijah Ramoutar’s house.

“We were sitting on the bed, laughing, joking about things that were starting to look up for us. She said, ‘Bye. I love you. I’ll be back,’” the victim’s mother, Melinda Wright, told WSBTV.

  • Wright said she received phone calls and Facebook messages from her daughter on Wednesday morning.

However, when police went to Ramoutar’s home — presumably because Alyssa stopped responding — they found her dead.

  • Once the medical examiner confirmed that she was strangled to death, Ramoutar was charged with murder.

However, family members said they saw no indications of abuse.

“He was always a real well-mannered boy. I never had any problems with him, always been respectful,” Melinda Wright told Channel 2.

Alyssa and Ramoutar had just gone to prom together in April before the couple graduated in May. In college, Alyssa was studying to go into the medical field while Ramoutar had plans of joining the Air Force.

Now the family just wants to know how this happened.

“I don’t wish any harm to him, but I’m angry. I’m hurt and I just want to know why,” Melinda Wright said.

  • Channel 2’s Nicole Carr posted the story to her Twitter page

A vigil will be held for Alyssa Wright at her alma mater, Alcovy High School.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
