Man in Joss Stone Murder Plot Sentenced to 18 Years

Second criminal given prison time over botched plan.

Junior Bradshaw, the Manchester man convicted in a murder plot against Joss Stone has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. The 32-year-old was implicated alongside ring leader Kevin Liverpool in a plan to rob and kill the British soul singer at her home in the Hemyock village of Devon, England.

An Exeter Crown Court found the pair guilty back in April.
Bradshaw denied understanding of his role in the 2011 attempt, but a judge found that neither his schizophrenia, mental impairment or low IQ rendered him unable to comprehend the plan. He and Liverpool were busted with a body bag and weapons, including a Samurai sword, a chisel and hammers. Sentencing for Bradshaw was delayed pending a psychiatric evaluation. His punishment was lightened as he was described as a "foot soldier" for Liverpool, rather than the "mastermind."
"Liverpool was the instigator and you were the foot soldier, you were a party to what he intended to do," Judge Francis Gilbert QC said in court.
Crime specialist Martin Meeke QC confirmed Bradshaw's "fundamental intellectual impairment," making him an easy candidate for manipulation.
Liverpool, 35, has been behind bars for two years and was given a life sentence. He must serve a minimum of 10 years and eight months before becoming eligible for parole.
