Tom Cruise And Debbie Allen Light Up The Dance Floor Ahead Of Their Honorary Oscars
Tom Cruise and Debbie Allen decided to kick off their honorary Oscar weekend the best way they know how, and that’s by taking over the dance floor.
On Saturday (Nov. 15), the “Mission: Impossible" icon and the renowned choreographer shared a joyful moment at a Los Angeles event hosted by the Debbie Allen Dance Academy.
The two moved with the ease of longtime performers, celebrating on the eve of receiving their honorary Oscars at the 2025 Governors Awards.
D-Nice was on the turntables that evening and captured a moment of Cruise and Allen on the dance floor, enjoying themselves.
He captioned: “Last night was a vibe! I kept the vibes flowing as we celebrated @therealdebbieallen in a major way,” before finishing up by saying how the “Top Gun” actor is “invited to the barbecue.”
During his acceptance speech, the “Edge Of Tomorrow” star called Allen a “queen” and shared how her “impact in our industry and this world is profound.”
“You are more than a dancer, actor, choreographer, director, or producer….you are a once in a lifetime force of kindness and artistic expression.”
Allen’s organization, the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, captured ten highlights from the evening and shared on social media how much of an “honor” it was to celebrate the 5x Emmy Award-winning veteran.
The account expressed how the gathering was meant to shine a light on the depth of her impact, writing that they “gathered to reflect on the brilliance, courage, and passion she continues to pour into the world” as she prepares to receive her Honorary Oscar.
They went on to acknowledge the community that showed up for her, adding, “To every friend, family member, and supporter who came to honor her, thank you. Miss Allen, you are our light. It is our greatest privilege to celebrate you.”
Allen has a big year ahead, as she’s set to direct the upcoming sequel to the cultural hit, “A Different World,” which is coming to Netflix soon.
“There couldn’t be a better time than now to reboot A Different World,” she told Netflix.
“Our show changed lives, tripled the enrollment of historically black colleges and gave a strong voice and platform for Young Black America. The incredible fresh young talent we have discovered paired with the lovable audience favorite OGs makes this much-anticipated return a must-see on Netflix.”
