Women's Groups Demand Suspension of Tyreek Hill Amid Abuse Allegations
Several prominent women's organizations are demanding that the NFL suspend Tyreek Hill following an alleged domestic violence incident levied at him by his estranged wife, Keeta Vaccaro.
According to TMZ Sports, Kim Villanueva, president of the National Organization for Women, is “livid” after the news broke of Hill’s allegations, and she believes the five-time Pro Bowler should not be allowed to play against the New England Patriots this Sunday.
"Tyreek Hill should not be playing while these charges are being investigated," Villanueva said. "The NFL itself proudly proclaims that forty-seven percent of the NFL audience is women, and women are watching to see where the league stands today."
"Roger Goodell needs to say it loud and clear -- the NFL has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to domestic violence. Or maybe it doesn't?"
Villanueva went on to say that not suspending Hill reveals a disturbing pattern in the NFL and the way the league handles domestic violence claims.
"The NFL doesn't just have a Tyreek Hill problem -- it still has a violence against women problem," she said. "How many times does the NFL and Roger Goodell need to learn the same lesson? They need to listen to women when it comes to domestic violence. They need to support survivors, not enable abusers."
Per court documents, Vaccaro alleged Hill “got violent” with her multiple times.
Hill has had his fair share of off-the-field incidents over the past several years. In 2024, the Miami Dolphis wide receiver was arrested by law enforcement officers after being stopped for speeding and reckless driving. The incident with Miami-Dade police happened just hours before the Dolphins' 2024 season opener, just outside Hard Rock Stadium.
More than a decade ago, Hill pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation in an incident involving his then-pregnant girlfriend while a student at Oklahoma State University. The incident led to his dismissal from the school, and he transferred to West Alabama.
So far, Hill has not been criminally charged and has not been disciplined by the NFL or the Dolphins organizations.
