Chris Paul Returns To Clippers For Final Act

The legendary point guard is coming back to LA for what many believe will be his last season.

Chris Paul is coming back home to Los Angeles.

According to ESPN, Paul has inked a deal with the LA Clippers for his 21st NBA season, which many have speculated will be his last in the league.

Before officially signing with the Clippers, Paul was in serious talks with the Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Hornets, and Dallas Mavericks. Eventually, the Clippers won out because he had some of his best years in LA, and his desire to play this upcoming season closer to his family.

Lawrence Frank, the Clippers' president of basketball operations, expressed his excitement about Paul’s highly anticipated return.

"Chris is one of the most impactful players ever to wear a Clippers uniform, and it's appropriate that he returns to the team for this chapter of his career," Frank said.

"He is joining us as a reserve point guard and is excited to fill whatever role [coach] Tyronn Lue asks him to play," Frank continued. "He wants to be part of the group, and we're fortunate to have him back."

The acquisition of Paul caps a busy offseason for the Clippers, who also added guard Bradley Beal, power forward John Collins, and center Brook Lopez. They will also have cap flexibility to pursue potential free agents over the next two years.

Hailed as one of the best point guards of all-time, Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star, a 2-time Olympic gold medalist, and a 2-time All-Star Game MVP. He’s also been named to the All-NBA Team nine times and the All-Defensive Team nine times.

Taking to Instagram, Paul thanked the San Antonio Spurs for welcoming him last year, where he started 82 games for the squad.

“To the San Antonio @spurs organization, Coach Pop, Coach Mitch, my teammates, the coaching staff, and the incredible fans for welcoming me this past season,” Paul wrote. Proud to have been part of a franchise with such a rich history and bright future. Nothing but love for the 2-1-0 🤍🖤 #GoSpursGo #ThankYouSA
