Michael Vick Insists He Will Play Sunday

Vick’s right hand is still sore from a deep bone bruise injury, but he feels confident about playing against the San Francisco 49ers.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick says he is “100 percent” certain he will be in the starting lineup when the Eagles play San Francisco on Sunday.

Vick’s status was questionable after being knocked out of Sunday’s game against the New York Giants with what was then believed to be a broken right hand. The injury was actually a deep bone bruise to his non-throwing hand.

While it seems like it may be too painful for him to play against the 49ers, Vick told reporters differently on Wednesday.

“It's a little sore,” Vick told reporters, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I gotta do what I gotta do right now, and that's try to get back on the field just as fast as I can.”

Still there is some concern with how he will take snaps from center or if he can squeeze the ball as he needs to. Those factors will determine if Vick is capable of playing on Sunday for coach Andy Reid.

“If he can't squeeze the ball 100 percent or is in jeopardy of being injured further, we're not going to put him in there,” he said.

Vick has taken a beating the past couple of weeks and has not completed the last two games, which both ended in Eagles defeats. Two weeks ago, Vick was knocked out of the game in Atlanta with concussion-like symptoms.
