Despite his hit single "My Last," Big Sean's recently released Finally Famous album will not be his last. The Detroit rapper talked exclusively to BET.com about his sound, his plan for another album soon and touring the country with fellow rap newcomer Wiz Khalifa on the Rolling Papers tour.

According to the upstart rhyme slinger, his debut album, which sold over an impressive 90,000 copies in its first week of sales, is only the beginning, and he's already thinking about the next. "I know it's not my last album.... I got another album coming out in a year from now, and another one after that, and another one after that. I took it more so as a learning experience. It was fun."

As a debut artist with a cosign from Kanye West, a 2011 BET Awards performance with Chris Brown under his belt and a tour with Wiz Khalifa ("I get to share the stage with my homie," he says), Big Sean is making the quantum leap from relative obscurity to a rising star in the game.

And the road traveled to reach his current fame is not forgotten by the witty wordsmith. Repping the city of Detroit, Sean feels that he is bringing a different perspective than other Detroit artists. "My experience in Detroit was way different from a lot of people," he says. "My music isn’t what some people would call 'cliché.' Some people look at Detroit as straight gangster music, like the Chedda Boyz and the Street Lordz. Some people look at it as straight soul like J. Dilla and Slum Village, or some people look at it as Eminem, just crazy hard. And I feel like my music is all those put together." 

As for his name, Sean explains how it came to be. "When I was like 12 years old I started getting into music, and my mentor's name was also Sean and he was like 6'8". I was like 4'8", so they called me 'Big' and called him 'Little.' It was just funny." But after acknowledging that there are too many "lil's" in the rap game, Sean says there's more meaning behind his name than just that. "Biggie was one of my favorite rappers. My music is big. My impact is big. My story is big. My legacy is going to be big. So it fits perfect."

Big Sean will hit the stage tonight in Houston for another date with Wiz Khalifa on the Rolling Papers tour.
