This Week in Black: Yandy’s Lies, 'The Quad' Shockers, Baby Daddy Drama on ‘Star’

All the tea gets spilled in this week’s round-up on television.

Black television this week wasn’t here for the B.S. — Yandy’s “fake news” got checked on Love & Hip Hop, creeps got exposed on The Quad, and Lee Daniels stay tugging our edges on Star. Find out why nobody couldn’t handle the damn truth this week!

See the recap of episode 3 of The Quad, above.

  1. Yandy and her alternative facts got shut down during Part 2 of 'Love & Hip Hop' reunion

Love & Hip Hop reunion host Nina Parker was serving investigative Maury “expose your ass” tease during the finale. Yandy was in her second familiar place (outside of Mendeecees’s baby mamas’ mouths), the hot seat. Parker grilled her on whether or not she was stirring up drama between the ladies during that epic child’s birthday party hot mess. Yandy claimed she didn’t know her friend Kimbella was going to slide in there in warm up clothes with ratchet intentions. But when Parker hit her with the audio recording proving otherwise, it was like: “We asked you were keeping it all the way 100, you said yes. Yandy, that what was a LIE.” It was the epic shot fired across social media as Nina Parker basically fact checked Yandy on national television. Yandy Harris sat there and tried to look unbothered – but that’s exactly how a bothered person responds when they get called out on their B.S. Here’s to hoping that her “marriage” and other alternative facts get squared away before the next season.

  2. Betrayal came in all 50 shades this week on 'The Quad'

A LOT went down at GAMU this week and my edges, high cheek bones, and life was not ready. Dr. Fletcher wasn’t the only one going through it as her daughter wouldn’t take advice from her friends to get support for her sexual assault. Meanwhile Ebonie, who was MIA after her former bandmates decided to haze her, has arrived back on campus to slay and isn’t taking any punches. After her epic boo-crushing rap battle with Cedric that was more adorable than ShETHER, she finally found out that her former roommate Noni replaced her on the squad. She read Noni to filth like how most of the country wanted to get Warren Beatty together after he misread La La Trashland as the Best Picture over Moonlight. Hopefully, Ebonie comes through and snatches back her rightful throne just like Moonlight did on Oscar Sunday.

  3. Cotton done found out who her father is the hard way on 'Star'

See, this is why we can’t have nice things. Lee “Mr. Take Your Life With a Single Plot Twist” Daniels decided to make things a little more ratchet this week on Star. We found out that the father of Cotton, Queen Latifah’s transgender daughter, is Jahil. Yes, the trifling, coke snorting, pressed music manager who also got in popping back in the day with her best friend. The whole season we were under the impression that Cotton’s daddy was dead – Lee was like “nah... he’s not dead, he’s a deadbeat.” To make this even more messy, Latifah drops the bomb on both of them when Cotton is trying to seduce him while drunk. “Get off of him, that’s your father,” she just drops emotionless. Jahil had no clue (but he stays clueless on this damn show, no I’m not surprised) but Cotton just couldn’t deal and ran off. I would have probably done the same – that’s how I felt when the show went off. I had to run from the television because even I couldn’t believe it. Stay playing in my face all you want, Lee Daniels, I might find myself passed out for good next time.

Until next week, Black America — tell the truth and shame the devil and never think you can get away with backstabbing your roommate, because they might clap back and get you together like no other.
