Tupac and Janet Jackson May Have a Major Honor on Their Hands

It would be well-deserved for both.

Tupac Shakur and Janet Jackson are among 19 bands/musicians who have been nominated for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

This will be Tupac’s first attempt at making the Cleveland-located Hall. Luckily for him, his first ballot comes on his first year of eligibility while Jackson had already been considered previously. The Rock Hall requires that 25 years pass before an act will be considered for induction.

Usually there are only 10 to 12 names that appear on the ballot annually, however this year, that figure almost doubled with 19.

“Voting in the past has been so close, the nominating committee wanted to be more inclusive and have more choices for fans and the voting body,” a statement issued by the hall reads.

Even though there are more nominees, the Rock Hall guarantees that there will not be more than five acts inducted. Pearl Jam, Kraftwerk, Jane’s Addiction and Bad Brains are some of the other names nominated for induction into the HOF.

Last year, N.W.A. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame despite receiving among the lowest vote counts from fans. Voting for induction will begin on October 18 and continue through December 5. The results will be announced in December at a TBA date. Winners will be decided upon by Hall of Fame’s voting members. Inductions are slated to take place April 2017 in New York City.
