Here's Why Remy Ma Now Says She's Not 'Proud' of Her 'shETHER' Diss Track

She believes there was an alternative.

Remy Ma’s February “shETHER” diss track for Nicki Minaj sent shock waves through the industry and internet alike, passing hip-hop homage to Rem for every incendiary bar on the Nas-sampled single.

But according to her Facebook Live Q&A with Buzzfeed, mostly everyone else was pleased except for the Bronx-bred femcee herself.

Dropping in with Buzzfeed’s Another Round podcast, questions about the beef with Nicki and the diss track flooded in for Remy during the live session. Answering accordingly, Remy revealed that despite popular belief triggered by the diss record, she actually stands in complete opposition to smear campaigns against other women.

“I do not condone or recommend the tearing down of another female,” Remy reportedly said. “That’s not what I do. Anybody that knows me knows that I embrace females… I think we work so much better when we work together and when we help each other.”

She added, however, that those sentiments get tossed out of the window should anyone land on her bad side. After explaining that underlying tension between her and Nicki was the grounds for which she created “shETHER,” a clarification she recently shared on The Wendy Williams show, she expressed her dismay with the sensationalism of it all.

“It just bothers me that this record that I put out where it’s literally picking apart a female went so viral, and every media outlet wants to talk about it and pick it up,” Rem elaborated. Admitting that she believes the two could have made just as much buzz from a collaboration track, she reportedly added that she believes things would pan out completely differently had they joined forces instead.

“I don’t regret ["shETHER"], but I’m not particularly proud of it.”

Check out more of Remy’s thoughts with the hosts of Another Round when the full interview goes live here.
