Signs of a Possible Jay Z Album Are Popping Up and the Internet Is Losing It

The mysterious case of the "fours."

Published June 6, 2017

If there’s anything 2017’s hip-hop circle has been missing, it’s the sound, lyricism and gifted pen of Roc Nation legend Jay Z, who has been MIA from the album release scene for quite some time.

Though his frequent collaborator Swizz Beatz gave us an early hint in May about the possible new album, it just wasn't enough to cease the anticipation. But now that Jay's New York stomping grounds has been littered with mysterious “four” signs appearing at every corner of the busy metropolis and online, the internet believes all roads are leading back to one thing: the first Jay Z album in four years.

  1. One Twitter user discovered the '4:44' signs had connections to Jay's Tidal streaming service and a possible 'Superhero' album title
  2. Another user drew an even closer relationship between the number and the life and times of Jay
  3. No confirmed link between Jay and the trio of fours exists yet, but the internet has conjured it up anyway
  4. While others have called it a false alarm, there's even hilarious suspicion of Jay throwing us a red herring
  5. But if the rumors do turn out as true, someone will need to send for emergency services ASAP
