Diddy’s name-change saga took a hilariously disappointing turn for fans when he introduced a new era with his “Brother Love” moniker on his 48th birthday (Nov. 4).

But in the digital era, when the internet speaks, it speaks loud — loud enough to spark a retraction from the Bad Boy Records vanguard.

Returning to Instagram, where he first made the name-swapping announcement, Puffy entered on a high note, crooning out Lionel Richie’s famous “Hello” record to address everyone who had him on their Most Wanted list for his “Brother Love” title.

“Today I’ve come to the conclusion that you cannot play around with the internet,” he said. “Due to an overwhelming response from the media out there and just due to there not wanting to be any confusion, I was only joking — OK?”

It was all part of his “alter ego,” as Diddy put it, and he wants to set the record straight. Because he’ll also be embarking on a press run in forthcoming weeks, there’s no room for such confusion anyhow. And as for any of his former monikers — Puffy, P. Diddy, Puff, Sean Combs, etc. — he’ll be more than happy to oblige.

It’s good news for fans who were having a hard time keeping up with Diddy’s name lottery, but great news for the OG “Brother Love,” a.k.a. Bruce Prichard.
