In a world where loyalty and commitment are all daring virtues and love comes with warning signs, L.A.’s soul and R&B vocalist Jessica Childress is fearlessly taking the chances.

The spirit of her latest record and music video, “RUN,” a funkadelic soulful ode to love’s gamble, is inspiration enough for us all to do the same. Childress boasts passionate vocals over throwback jazz-pop instrumentation, luring fans even deeper into the late ‘70s- early ‘80s zeitgeist by way of a “Sexercise” video tape and shoot.

A young outsider helps manifest Childress’s message of carefree rapture, becoming lost in her own rejected individuality that comes out on top and ends up shining above everyone else’s. And all thanks to the bold risk of self-love that she took on herself, proving truth to Childress’s musical theory.

"You know that fantastic/horrifying feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you're about to do something you probably shouldn't do, but you know you're about to do anyway?" Childress tells BET.com of the track. "That's what 'RUN' is about. Equal parts great fun and bad decisions."

The former contestant of NBC’s The Voice has also equally proved her destined spot in the genre hybrid space, mastering modern R&B, classic soul, funk, jazz and rock n’ roll pizzazz. Childress’s voice has joined the likes of music icons like Patti Labelle, Allen Stone and Charles Bradley on stage as an opening act and already topped iTunes R&B Hot Tracks with the first single of her DAYS debut project, “Far Away.”
