R. Kelly Reportedly Stopped Paying Child Support For This Shameful Reason...
After posting yet another bail on Saturday (March 9) amid his arrest for failure to pay child support, R. Kelly reportedly has an explanation for why he refused to shell out the nearly $200,000 for his three children in the first place.
According to TMZ, they were apparently collateral damage in his gripe against ex-wife and mother of his kids Andrea Kelly, who sources allege drew first blood by “turning their children against him.” TMZ’s alleged sources claim Kelly refused to pay forth any more child support checks, which led to the embattled R&B singer’s rest last week—his second Cook County jail detainment in less than a month.
The sources claim Kelly attributes the failed relationship with his children to Drea, reports TMZ
They claim that Kelly feels that he’s attempted to “maintain a relationship with his three kids,” but Drea stands in the way of those chances. The alleged sources left out the sentiments of one of his children, however, who’s already addressed the estrangement with her father back in January: Joann “Buku” Kelly. The 21-year-old voiced her support for the victims of her father while revealing that she and her siblings haven’t had communication with him for years. “Unfortunately, for my own personal reasonings & for all my family has endured in regards to him, his life decisions, and his last name, it has been years since my siblings and I have seen and or have spoken to him,” she explained in a lengthy Instagram Story post. She continued explaining that she nor her family would ever “condone, support or be a part of ANYTHING negative he has done and/or continues to do in his life.”
Upon Kelly’s release from the arrest, he also had words about the child support situation
Additionally, TMZ reports that a “benefactor” helped him collect the $161, 633 to pay forth for his freedom. Presumably, this could be part of his obscure message to fans that “we’re gonna straighten all this stuff out,” which he announced to the cluster of media awaiting a statement from Kelly after he left the facility. TMZ points that the 52-year-old and Drea’s last exchange was in 2017, which resulted into a “huge fight” where she allegedly changed her phone number and cut off contact with him and his children. Drea’s side of the story holds that it was Kelly who excommunicated everyone upon his disdain for her opening up about the alleged domestic abuse he subjected her to, the site adds.
