Mariah Carey's Upcoming Christmas Tours Will Be Inspired By Kanye West's Sunday Service
Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is turning 25 in 2019, and the iconic songstress is embarking on her first-ever Christmas tour to celebrate.
With tickets on sale, the Grammy-award winning artist spoke to TMZ about the inspiration behind her upcoming tour. After watching a recent Kanye West Sunday Service session, Carey was moved when her 1997 song “My All” was featured. Applauding West for its inclusion, she expressed her approval for the gospel choir and church service at his events, adding that she is going to blend it into her upcoming Christmas shows.
The sentiments come shortly after Carey posted on her Twitter in late September, where she sang her own praises to the choir.
Just in time for the holiday spirit, the songstress uploaded a hilarious breaking news post featuring a call from Santa.
The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” tour will kick off in Las Vegas for a week starting the last week in November before hitting Boston, New York, Washington and more in December. Mariah also released a special video cut of unreleased video footage from her classic single, bringing out all of the nostalgia and holiday feels.
The festive single will officially celebrate 25 years of holiday cheer this month. USA Today praised it, saying that it’s “inarguably one of the best Christmas songs ever written.” After selling 16 million copies, the smash hit is also considered to be one of the best-selling singles of any genre, the outlet reports. It has reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year, making history as the first holiday track to grace the Top 5 in almost 60 years.
