The Rundown: 2 Chainz, #B.O.A.T.S. II #METIME

A track-by-track review of the rapper's sophomore album.

#B.O.A.T.S. II: #METIME - A year ago 2 Chainz debut was the talk of rap, and now it's time for round two. The formerly minted Tity Boi's latest #B.O.A.T.S. II: #METIME isn't as anti-social as the title suggests. In fact, the guest list is packed with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Drake, Lil Wayne, Fergie, Ma$e and more, while Mannie Fresh, DJ Toomp, and Diplo, are among the production handlers.Crisper beats, catchier hooks, and an impressive promotional run (including stops at Jimmy Kimmel Live and AXS TV's Skee Live) raised the #B.O.A.T.S. II anticipation, but does it live up to the hype? Check out our track-by-track review below. -Latifah Muhammad (Photo: Courtesy Def Jam)

"Fork" - Mike Will Made It mans the beat as 2 Chainz bounces from the rap game to the trap game. A man who charges $150,000 for a beat  can pretty much sell anything, and the proof is in his chorus: "So much money on me, it won't even fold."(Photo: Theo Wargo/Getty Images)

"36" - You probably won't find this lesson in a typical school curriculum, but 2 Chainz doesn't do things by the book. Here he rhymes on weights and measures explaining that "36" was significant number from his past days as a hustler in the trap. (Photo Courtesy Instagram via 2Chainz)

"Feds Watchin'" Feat. Pharrell Williams - Drug dealing themes continue on this Pharrell Williams-assisted heater. Skateboard P produces and sings on the album's lead single. The importance of keeping your clothes fresh, just in case the feds might be watching should not be lost here. The subject matter is semi-serious stuff over a beat that's not only ripe for a two-step, but knocks hard in the club. (Photo: Courtesy Def Jam)

"Where You Been" Feat. Cap 1 - The album's second Mike Will Made It-prdouced monster, is pretty close to trap perfection. The layered beat thumps nicely behind 2 Chainz as he updates us on his hilarious life, "I been getting money where the f--- you been? Bought a new crib just to f--- in." Chicago's own Cap 1 splits a verse with the Atlanta rapper and manages not to be outshined by his rap homie. (Photo: Courtesy Def Jam)

"I Do It" Feat, Drake and Lil Wayne - Don't test him, 2 Chainz will exercise his trigger finger--if necessary. "I Do It" teams him with Lil Wayne and Drake for a rap relay about itchy trigger fingers, women, and "trap n---as." The lyrial standouts are pocketed between each verse, yet near the end Chainz gets a little too personal: "Have Drake sing her a few songs just to get her p---y wet." "Used To" - Mannie Fresh hasn't missed a beat, literally. This one is a twerk-friendly throwback to "BackThat A-- Up," with 2 Chainz slipping into a Juvenile-style flow. He of course adds his own spin spitting, "Man in my city yeah/They call me Tity yeah/ Bad b---- wit me, she sadity yeah." (Photo: Christopher Polk/Getty Images)

"Netflix" Feat. Fergie - In the mood for a home movie? Well 2 Chainz has one in mind. Fergie lands on the Diplo-produced record, where the Atlanta trap star hashes out his fantasy of making a sex tape and putting it on Netflix. (Photo: Courtesy Def Jam)

"Extra" Feat. Rich Homie Quan - Rich Homie Quan ("Some Type of Way") and 2 Chainz submerge this track in braggadocious rhymes about money, success, and sexual conquests. Meanwhile, Grammy winning-producer Wonder Arilo serves up hybrid of grit, grime, with a little bass. (Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage for MTV)

"U Da Realist" - Drumma Boy's #B.O.A.T.S. II submission is a dedication to the deceased. The track opens with  a church sermon and delves into a tribute to the rapper's friend who passed away. No need for tears here though, this song isn't even close to a slow jam. The beat builds fast and aggressively at times as Chainz pays homage to his fallen comrade. (Photo: Theo Wargo/Getty Images)

"Beautiful Pain" Feat. Lloyd and Ma$e - We don't always hear 2 Chainz air out emotions but his plea hear is worth your ear time. Da Honorable C.N.O.T.E. rolls out a swift instrumental that swiftly grooves its way below verses from 2 Chainz and a croon from Lloyd before peaking with an air-tight Ma$e flow. (Photo: Scott Halleran/Getty Images)

"So We Can Live" Feat. T-Pain - T-Pain has long since lost his auto-tune crown to Future, and doesn't put up much of a fight for it here. Pain overdoses on computer vocals, and pretty much lampoons the tracks with his digital singing attempt. (Photos: Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images/  Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images for OurTime.org)

Best Live Performer: 2 Chainz - The hip hop catchphrase of 2013, “Turn Up” is synonymous with this 6-foot 5-inch Georgia-raised rhymer. 2 Chainz can kick a show into high gear by just uttering his moniker, 2 Chaaaainz. However it’s his cluster of club bangers and crowd pleasing hits that makes him one of the hottest tickets in music. (Photo: Paras Griffin /Landov)

"Mainstream Ratchet" - Who better than 2 Chainz to usher "ratchetry" into the mainstream? Atlanta's unofficial rap ambassador declares the official crossover with a rhyme ratchet enough to climb it's way out the gutter. We're guessing that was his intention.(Photo: Paras Griffin /Landov)

"Beautiful Unicorn" Feat. Sunnie Petterson, Chrisette Michelle - Taking chances is a good thing for 2 Chainz. The heartfelt record pushes him out of his comfort zone, and into a spoken word lane with Sunnie Petterson, and Chrisette Michele. Piano keys flow throughout, pairing perfectly with Michelle's vocal whimsy, and an interesting admission from 2 Chainz. "Lyrically I could be Talib Kweli, but with gold teeth it'd be hard for some to believe" he raps. (Photos:  John Lamparski/WireImage, Courtesy Sphinx Management Group, Roger Kisby/Getty Images)
